Some people keep their plans/dreams pending, waiting when they hit something big... Sometimes such wait lasts till thy kingdom come. Some will say, let me wait till I get a big job with big salary before I start helping people, some will say once my business start booming that's when I will start building my house, some will say let my children grow before I will start saving for them, let me become a politician before I can help my people, etc.
Let me make you understand that if you can't help people with your N20,000 salary, it means even with a million naira salary, you wouldn't still help people... Again, you might never end up getting that big salary job, that means you will never help people for life.
Do you know that their are people with small income that have actually finished building
their houses?, so why wait till you become dangote before you start building yours?... All you need do is tell yourself, each week you will save money for 20 blocks, before you know it your house is set. If you keep waiting, you might die not owning a house. Start the little your income can, even if you later become dangote, its not a crime to own many houses in Nigeria.
Why wait for your kids to grow before you start saving?, what if there is no money then?. Some people starts saving for a child immediately they were conceived, when the child finally grows, there wouldn't be much stress dishing out cash for his education and well being. Thank God banks are now encouraging savings for children.
If you can not connect your borehole in the village outside for your community to fetch water when you were an ordinary citizen, if you become a politician and win election tomorrow, you wouldn't do any better.
Things you do when you have nothing is a determinant factor of things you will do when you have something. Your inability to do something positive when you had nothing reveals what you can do when you have something.
Let me use a case study. I use a blackberry curve7, until I started blogging, the curve7 is the phone I have been using for time immemorial. This is the phone I have been using and still using to make all the update I post on facebook, that's the phone I used to open and run my groups and even do admin work in some other groups. Sometimes when I make an update, someone using a laptop or ipad will say "Anita this your update is too long I can't read it", I laugh and say to myself, what will you now say to someone who used a curve7 to type that long update lol... Funny enough, that's same phone I used to type this very one you are reading.
Anytime I meet a facebook friend, once they see my phone, the first thing they ask is "Anita, is it this phone that you use to do all these things you do on facebook?". I'm sure most of you will be surprised at this revelation too lol.
The truth is, what is doing all what you see I do on facebook is me not my phone. If I can not do what I do with my curve7, even with iphone 6, laptop and galaxy tab, I will still be as dormant as some people on facebook. Some people have access to system and the best phones with the wildest screen, yet what they do with it is upload pictures on instagram and facebook from morning till night forgetting that social media has gone beyond sampling of pictures.
The message I'm trying to pass is this, don't always wait till things get better before you do things for both yourself and the society at large. If you can not carry a block with wheelbarrow, that means even with 911, you still can't.
This sermon is for someone, stop procrastinating, stop waiting for when everything will become a bed of roses for you before you start doing what you ought to do... Your little beginning can pave way for you into that bed of roses you dream of.
