MY NEIGHBOUR PART 5

You remember that last time I told you my neighbour was in the hospital and we were expecting his mum. Well, the mum came, my neighbour asked that I help him pick the mum from the park for he was still in the hospital.

It was actually my first time of meeting with my neighbour's mum since he was barely a year in our compound and his mum has never been to his house since he packed in. It wasn't difficult for me to identify her though, because I have seen her picture a couple of times through his phone. I was already communicating with her through phone before I got to the park, so it wasn't difficult for me to quickly introduce myself to her. "Oh Mama, welcome, I'm Anita the girl your son asked to come pick you from the park" I told her. She looked at Me from head to toe like someone running a scan on another through the eyes. "Oh my daughter, you are the girl I have been speaking with that's coming to pick me, you must be my son's fiancee, my son Dozie definitely has eyes for good things" she said with smiles plastered on her face while she embraced me. I was startled, fiancee ke? My neighbour didn't tell me about this new game and he didn't even price my acceptance to play along. Oh I never told you, my neighbour's name is Dozie. "Mama I'm only your son's neighbour not his fiancee" I told her, but it seems her ears weren't listening.




Mama and I got to the hospital, wow! You need to see the mother and son show of love that I almost cried at the sight (you remember I told you I cry easily lol). My neighbour's mum on seeing the son started singing one sorrowful victorious song, my neighbour stood up and ran towards the mum and both of them embraced passionately while I stood watching them like someone watching a love scene in the cinema lol. Mama on seeing the bruises on my neighbour's face started cursing those behind it, "it will not be well with these people for laying their filthy hands on my son, my odu'nwa, the last child that sucked my breast eh, look at how they manhandled my son without even giving consideration to the fact that he is handsome". At this point, I started laughing at my mama's description of her son, especially when she made mention of my neighbour being the last mouth that sucked her breast, I actually glanced at my neighbour, looking at his mouth that he kept like someone who has actually missed either the mum's breast milk or sucking of breast generally lol.

My laughter brought mama's attention to me, "thank you my daughter for taking care of my son, after seeing you and how you have taken care of my son, I don't need 'chi' to convince me that you will make a good wife for my son", she said and embraced me again. Now I can't take this, I need to clarify her that her son and I has nothing going on come to talk of me being his fiancee. "Mama please, I am n..." I was still talking when my neighbour cut me short. "Mama, Anita is truly a nice girl, I knew you will like her when you finally get to meet her" my neighbour said while he gave me sign to shut up. "I can see that my son, no wonder you totally refused seeing any of those girls I have been trying to introduce to you. I have been meaning to set my eyes on this city girl that has been deceiving you, the girl you keep talking about each time you are asked to take a wife, now that I have seen her, I think I'm as convinced as you that she will make a good wife. But you both should hasten up and give me grandchildren" she said while we left the hospital as my neighbour has been discharged.

"Fiancee ko, fiancee ni" I said in my mind. You know, my neighbour is my big time paddy, so I will never fall his hands... That's why I kept shut over this new development. But trust me, he will have to handsomely pay me for me to play along with this new game.

When we got home, while mama went to take her bath, I quickly confronted my neighbour. "Mr man, what's this fiancee thing?", my neighbour looked at me and laughed. "Anita you have to help me this last time please, I know I have dragged you into many issues, but believe me, this should just be the last. You see, my mum has been disturbing me about getting a wife, each time she brings up the issue, I keep telling her that I have someone. Anita you and I knows that there is no woman currently in my life but I just had to lie to her to keep her shut. I was lucky that my mum met you and fell in love with you, at least you will be a cover up for now. You know how mother's nag over this marriage issue, and I'm not in anyway ready for this type of nagging in this my current state. Anita believe me, I didn't plan dragging you into this, but please help your neighbour, its just temporary, she will soon go and the fiancee thing will end" he said looking at me like a baby. "How much?" I asked him, he looked at me with surprise and said "how much what?", "how much are you going to pay me to play along" I answered. "Haba! Anita, you too like money,I wonder why your parents didn't name you Monica, must I pay you for everything?" He said. "Look Mr man, this is a very expensive game you want me to play and if are not ready to pay, forget it. Then again you have to pay up all your outstanding debts before we commence, if not just forget it" I said to him. This is an opportunity for me to collect all my money that I have been thinking of how best to collect mbok lol.

My neighbour went inside his room, came out with a bundle of N500 note and handed it over to me, "this will sort out all my outstanding debt, also serve as an initial deposit for this new one" he said handing over the money to me. This game is fantastic I said in my mind, with all smiles I collected it from him. "Thanks sweetheart" I said to him, he smiled and said "naughty girl".

I was about to leave when his mum came out from the bathroom, my neighbour called me back, "Mama, Anita leaves in the next flat, she is going back now to her flat" he said to his mum while holding me around the waist. "Oh, this is compound love" his mum said smiling while walking towards us. My neighbour dragged me close and said "sweetheart, thanks for taking care of me, you know I love you" he said, before I could say jack robinson, my neighbour planted a passionate kiss on my lips while his mum watched. I probably enjoyed the kiss #covers_face lol. When I realised myself and pulled out from him, he smiled and whispered to my ears "honey, this is part of the game, we have to make it real".

"You people shouldn't spoil an old woman" I heard his mum say while laughing when I left for my flat. "Anita how can you be so carried away with this kiss naa, you don fall hands" I said to myself. But deep down in my heart, I liked it and will probably want some more #covers_face... I think I like this game #smiles.


Could it be that i have fallen in love with my neighbour?
